The Solar panels should produce enough power to operate to operate the whole Homestead, and be able to replenish itself from 20 percent to full in two-three hours on a good day. Love your videos, your family, and all your projects. Just had a thought that may address your sawdust collection problem on the new sawmill. I have a vacuum system in my shop, which is beefy but not right for your needs. Have you considered cutting in a Y fitting (maybe 4”) near your blade out put and then attach a blower at the Y and a long flexible hose to the run of the Y. To avoid a static explosion you could insert a bare copper wire as a ground throughout the flexible hose. Either a large electric or gas blower could send the sawdust around to the woods around the back of your mill house. I’m sure you have ideas that could improve this suggestion but wanted to share my thoughts. Looking forward to Jennifer building on the property! Take care.

      Hadn’t given it that much thought since we have no power other than generator. Manually it is easiest to let it pile up then move it. Maybe after solar is in. We have enough for cabin but don’t know how much extra is affordable for other buildings. Only have three batteries. So expensive I don’t mind cleaning it up. Thanks for the comment and watching. We appreciate it. Have a good week

    18:11 Are ya'll planning on Jennifer being able to use the solar system if she looses grid power? Unistrut is like a Swiss Army knife many uses for this material.

    • @SmokyMountainOutpost
      @SmokyMountainOutpost День назад

      No because it’s to far to run. DC loses a lot over great distances. So, she will have to get her own or come up to the cabin in that event. They will have gas and battery back up to run lights like the cabin has been using.

    hallo Richard, ich verfolge ihre Videos ja schon ein paar Jahre, als sie anfingen ihr Haus zu bauen. Damals hatten sie das neue Sägewerk und die neue Werkstatt noch nicht. Das Haus und vieles drum herum ist fertig (bis auf das Bad???). Sie müssen doch irgendwann mal fertig mit allem sein. Warum denn jetzt noch der Kraftaufwand mit der neuen Werkstatt. Sie arbeiten und arbeiten schon seit Jahren aber irgendwann muß doch mal alles fertig sein. Ich stelle mir immer wieder die Frage, was sie dann machen. Können sie sich das überhaupt vorstellen, irgendwann fertig zu sein? Liebe Grüße aus Berlin / Germany

      Where the sawmill used to be was never intended to stay and wasn’t built heavy duty. We have other plans for that area. We are only about half finished with the homestead. I think in about five years it may slow down. Still have to build a root cellar, gazebo, outdoor fire pit, camping area in the hollow below the cabin, and I guessed you missed the fact that my daughter is getting ready to build a home here as well, so many more projects left. Besides, when we get older we must keep moving or we level off and bad health sets in. I am going as long as I can. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. It means a good deal to us. Instead of applying tar on post to be placed under fin. grade. I treat them w/ recycled motor oil, miter cut bottom ends & overlap bottom ends w/ 30# bldg. felt nailed with galv. roofing nails to at least 6” above fin. grade. Set the post on a brick, stone or paver at the hole bottom. Backfill & compact post holes. A roll of 30# or 15# bldg. felt is inexpensive.
